Must Have Supplements to Combat a Virus

MANUKA  HONEY: one of the most powerful natural antibiotics known. 

With its anti viral, anti inflammatory and antibacterial properties it is a must have in the cupboard. Taken in hot water as soon as feeling sick (and throughout sickness) it boosts the immune system combating coughs, sore throats, colds and flus while aiding the digestive system which is where much of the immune system resides.

OREGANO OIL: another one of my favourites, also a powerful natural antibiotic. 


As soon as symptoms appear a couple of drops on the soles of your feet a few times a day will boost your immune system straight away . Continue until symptoms disappear.

ASCORBIC C (Vitamin C): another fabulous supplement to have on hand. Vitamin C is not stored in the body so taking it everyday is necessary to support a healthy immune system.


It can be found in many foods like citrus fruits, berries, kiwi fruit, mango,brocolli, brussel sprouts, tomatoes- the list goes on.


Vitamin C can be taken in a supplement form as a tablet or powder, a wonderful way to boost your daily intake.


When sick , increase the amount taken to flood your body to attack the invading virus. ( always read labels for dosage amounts ) 

VITAMIN D:  this vitamin is essential for maintaining a healthy immune system so getting in the sun every day is a boost for your health. During the winter months when it is harder to do this a supplement can be taken

ANTIOXIDANTS: it’s recommended to have a diet high in antioxidants as they prevent  and slow cell damage caused by free radicals ( unstable molecules that the body produces when bombarded by pressures from lifestyle and environment causing inflammation and disease) 


Antioxidants can prevent immune deficiencies and boost overall health. 

Some foods high in antioxidants include goji berries, beans, red cabbage, apples kale,spinach (there are plenty more, just do a search for foods high in antioxidants).


Some fabulous antioxidant supplement powders include Super Greens and Maca Powder ( ALWAYS read label before using).
